KBD: Special Delivery

.... just for you.

Yep . . . a belated Christmas card. I made "Mrs. Claus" a couple weeks ago, but made her tall so it took me a while to place her on a project.

As I was browsing thru the Silhouette store, I came across the basic square centered step card.

Mrs. Claus is from Kadoodle Bug Designs.

PDE Linky Party: Boxy Snowman

Hello there! Merry Christmas!!! To those of you escaping the hustle and bustle to check your computer . . . welcome!

Not only is it Christmas, but's it's Friday and my day to post with PDE Linky Party.

This particular project I've been wanting to make since last Christmas/winter. I was greatly inspired by DT member Kathy Helton at SVG Cuts.

By the way, you don't make 3-D projects to use up scraps. 3-D projects take a lot of paper, therefore making you scraps for other crafty things. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Thanks for stopping by today!!!!

P.S. - Below are all the files I used to make this project. They are not the same as Kathy Helton, but it is all about being creative and making something your own (plus using the files you have).

Supplies:

SVG Cuts files:
Christmas Open House - nose, hat and arms
Christmas Cuddly Friends - eyes and mouth
Bedtime Stories - "pumpkin" to make snowman head
One-piece Boxes - body

Other supplies:
Christmas buttons (HL)
Raffia
Mistletoe brad
Evergreen punch
Red and White twine (HL)
Snowflake embellishment
Scotch Quick-Dry Glue
Low-heat Glue Gun

Paper:
Fancy Pants: Timbergrove
--Flurries, Elements and Powder

...it's the simple things

Hello there! Recently I've come to the conclusion that I have been grossly negligent in actually scrapbooking layouts. I've been making cards, die cuts, and 3-D projects . . . but not pages.

So I went hunting thru my saved blogs for inspiration and came up with the challenge blog "Stuck?!" sketch.

I realize it's winter and Christmas and that's what everyone is making right now. But I just moved across the country from cold Indiana to semi-warm, very sunny Texas. I usually scrap by what's inspiring me at the moment.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Let's Get Sketchy DT call

2016 is going to be the year of making more scrapbook pages. What better way to do that than to apply for a design team.

I have made layouts before using "Let's Get Sketchy" - so here goes!!

If this sounds intriguing to you, follow the link provided. Good luck!!

PDE Linky Party - Box Card

Hello there!! Today is my Friday to post with PDE Linky Party.  As always, the theme is "Anything Goes".

Have you found the svg site "Dreaming Tree" yet? They are new and specialize in 3-D and vinyl projects.

This project is a "paperscape" box card. Can you believe it!!??? And I can't tell you how EASY it was to put together.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Waiting for Santa

Let's just say this project was . . . waiting for me to finish it. I started it over a year ago. *sigh*

The base is a 3-D box frame from the Silhouette Online store. The bears and other die cuts are all from Scrapping Bug Designs.

I love bears, but I wanted this project to be . . . more. Alas, I just needed it done and it's relegated to the "not my fave" projects.

I think I wanted a big bow on it somewhere but couldn't figure out how to put it on without covering too much up.

Also, the original file is a boy and girl. I don't have girls, so I made the two bears both boys instead. But if this project is at all inspiring, I'm sure you will make it your own.

I'm also entering this into the Die Cuttin' Divas challenge: Anything Goes.

Thanks for stopping by today.

KBD: From the North Pole

Hello there! Today is my first official post as a DT member for Kadoodle Bug Design Team.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

MCS: A Merry Little Christmas

Hello again! Today I'm sharing with you my third layout using My Creative Scrapbook's main kit. In case I forgot to mention it, I'm guest designing for them this month and next. Sweet!

I followed this sketch by Citrus Twist.

I do like a lot of negative space and keeping my layouts clean. I want your eye to go to the photo every time.

Especially when it's my kid being goofy for the camera.

Everything used here was in the main kit, except the Dymo label (date).

Thanks for stopping by today!!!

MCS: Merry Christmas

Hello again!! Today I'm sharing with my my second layout using the main kit from My Creative Scrapbook.

The kit consists of three different overlays. I must confess, although very pretty, I personally find them hard to use.

I think I like the sketch and idea of this layout, but I feel that something is still "off" about it.

Oh, well. Can't love them all, right?

Thanks for stopping by today!

MCS: Merry & Bright

Hello there! I'm guest designing for My Creative Scrapbook again this month! I'm designing with their main kit this month. Here is my first layout (this one is also my favorite).

I followed this sketch by PageMaps. I simply love how this turned out!

The photo is Christmas of 2013 with our first exchange student from Germany.

Everything here is from the kit, except "bright" which was cut using my Silhouette.

Thanks for stopping by today.

KBD: Please Santa Don't Be Late

Hello there! I must confess, I have a lot of Fall Decor items that I handmade but not a lot of Christmas decor.

Soon to be rectified!

This project is actually two projects combined. First, the clock face and background is part of an advent calendar from SVGCuts. I did have to do some tweaking in SCAL3 to make it fit on the plaque stand from HL.

Secondly, the 'bear in the present' are from Kadoodle Bug Designs.

I did minimal decorating after all that. For whatever reason you care to name, this project took me two days to put together. Most of my decor items don't take me that long so I guess my creative streak was on snooze.

Thanks for stopping by today!

KBD: Cookies for Santa

Hello there! I am happy to announce that I am a DT member for Kadoodle Bug Designs and today is my first time posting with them.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've just recently moved across the country and it takes a while to settle in to a new place.

If you've been following me for a while you know that I pretty much stick to a certain "theme" and "layout" when it comes to these type of cards. That's because it can take entirely too long to come up with something new and exciting.  Oh, well.

I do love mice and bears!!

May your pumpkins be plump!!! PDE Linky Party

It's Friday again and  time for the weekly challenge at PDE Linky Party: Anything Goes.

A few weeks ago I discovered the awesome cute files from Kadoodle Bug Designs. One of the first things I made was this cute goat and his pumpkins, but I made him a little too big.

So instead of making a traditional "card", I bought a 6.5" x 6.5" wooden plaque to "frame" a card. That extra 1.5 inches really makes a difference.

This "card" is not going in the mail so I really stretched the details a bit. I wanted stitching but my sewing machine was packed for our big move, so I just poked random holes instead.

Thanks for stopping by today!!! Hope the details inspire you.

Supplies:
Paper:
--Leftovers from BoBunny

BOO!!! PDE Linky Party

Although it's our weekly Friday DT reveal at PDE Linky Party, it's still the day before Halloween. The theme is still "Anything Goes", but I've just gotta share one last Halloween project.

I really love the file Mr. Pumpkin from Kadoodle Bug Designs. So I made one more Halloween tag to share with you.

The tag is actually a die cut file from the Silhouette store. I did make it much bigger so I could fit Mr. Pumpkin on it easily.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy Halloween

Hello there!! Today is my day to post for Scrapping Bug Designs.

I picked up this really inexpensive wooden sign from Hobby Lobby that I knew would be perfect the large title from SBD.

Next I chose patterned paper "Arsenic and Lace" by Echo Park. I also knew that I wanted the sign to be "framed" without trying to add too many layers to it. I did not want to take away from the details of the actual Halloween title.

So I downloaded the iron frame from the Silhouette Store and used that as my layer for the project.

Although the ribbon hides the spider web detail and most of the tree, I did feel it was important to have with my project. It felt naked without it.

P.S. The sign does not actually sit in my yard. I just took photos of it outside as it is still paper. It will make a cute wall decor in my new house.

Thanks for stopping by today!

All the pieces are inked for dimension. The bubbles have Stickles on them.

The ribbon is kept in place by hot glue.

There were just so many possibilities with this one for me. Since I'm on a box card and 3-D "kick", I just stuck with that.

I reached for a SVGCuts file this time. This card was so easy to put together.

Try it!!!

Monster Mash

Hello there! Today is special for me. It's finally October!!!! It celebrates my son's birthday, my anniversary, my favorite season and colors. All of this combined with a whole nonsense of allergies. It's a love/hate relationship.

Anyway, I made this card for my son's 9th birthday. Mind you, he doesn't actually get to keep it in his possession. More like . . . "see it" . . . "now give it back" - we're going to put it up high to keep it safe.  (feel free to shake your head at me now)

I was inspired by the design of this card on Pinterest

The bat and cupcake are from KaDoodle Bug Designs. I did not cut out the skull and crossbones that came with the file. I tend to shy away from such tiny cuts. I will use actual embellishments instead. Brads or small buttons instead of die cut buttons, little bows instead of die cut bows, etc etc.

I want to also give a very special thank you to my crafty friend Barbara with PaperPiecingMemoriesbyBabs. She knows why. I am such a HUGE fan of her work.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

The typical "Happy Birthday" did not "feel" right for this card.
So I went with Monster Mash. I thought it was fitting for a 9 year old.

Supplies:
Paper:
--Doodle Bug Designs: Ghouls and Goodies
--AC Black Cardstock
--Cardstock "purple" - a lucky find in my stash

DANGER

AHHH! Halloween! The time of year where the cuteness is overflowing.

One of the challenges of making die cuts like these is actually incorporating them into a layout without the die cut actually dominating the whole scene. For me, a scrapbook page should be about the photo(s). I like for you to see the "whole page", not just one particular feature.

The other challenge is using them in a way that I personally like to scrap . . . lots of negative space. I made this layout following Stuck?! September's 15th - 29th contest.

I also used Scrapping Bug Designs "Happy Fright Night" file. Since the sketch used multiple photos, I decided to have the crow and pumpkins be a part of that flow. They are the "third" photo, in other words.

And lastly, yes the background paper is not white. The color is actually "smoke", a very very light gray. I originally had a subdued patterned orange as my background but it felt like too much orange. Like it was reaching out and suffocating everything!!

Wait . . . I got caught up in the moment there for a second. . .

PDE Linky Party: Spider Street

Hello there! It's PDE Linky Party time with the theme: Anything Goes.

No brainer, right??

I'm having fun this week playing around with tags. I actually pulled out many different tools and styles for this one. I was hugely inspired by this card from Pinterest.

The silhouette witch is from SVGCuts. The flower is a combination of Spellbinders and a punch. I even got to dig out my Coordinations paper by embossing, then distressing, for a really cool effect.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

So Thankful for You

Hello there!! This week I discovered Kadoodle Bug Designs. So I decided to play around with their freebie file this week and see what I could do with it.

I'm also entering the challenge with DieCuttinDivas again this week. Love their challenges!!!

I also discovered that I'm really low on awesome Fall paper. I had to dig around just for these sheets. I do have enough Halloween paper to keep me happy, but where is my Fall stuff??

Anyway, thanks for stopping by today!

PDE Linky Party: 3D project

Hello there! Today I am sharing with you my project with PDE Linky Party's challenge: 3-D.

Since I'm also on ScrappingBugDesigns' DT, I thought I would mesh the two together today.

I love to make 3-D projects. I have not been able to make much right now because we are moving to Dallas soon. Most of my energy these days is trying not to make a mess in my office, plus the constant search for a new home consumes me.

My creative side insists on still being active, if only for a little bit each week.

I combined two of my favorite sites with this project. The two are nothing alike but it's still fun trying to mix them. The box with the arrow is from SVGCuts.com. The crow, pumpkin and ghosts are all from ScrappingBugDesigns.

The arrow on the box is originally designed to be a true "box" holding tiny lights. I needed/wanted this to be a little simpler than that so I just layered the arrows.  I also removed the original "happy birthday" that was on the front of the box using SCAL3. It was super easy to put together.

The crow and pumpkin were simply my choices from SBD. Choose anything you want, any theme and you have yourself a cute box for any occasion!

Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you are inspired!

I purposely took this photo in front of a cobweb. Nice touch right?

Both of the ghosts' faces were made using Peachy Keen stamps.

Write Your Story: My Creative Scrapbook GDT

Hello there! Here is my final layout using the main kit from My Creative Scrapbook for September. (Tomorrow will be a card.)

I did a lot of fussy cutting for this layout. It's definitely a doable option if your supplies are limited.

I dug around in my photos and found this gem of my sister for this layout, taken 3 years ago. Remember my post from two days ago where I said we needed to scrap more about ourselves?

This layout also follows the September sketch with MyCreativeSketches.

Sorry this photo seems a little gray. My handy light box was torn down because we are moving. Hubby is just gonna have to make me a new one!

Thanks for stopping by today!

My Wish for you: My Creative Scrapbook GDT

Today I'm sharing with you my second layout using My Creative Scrapbook's Main kit for September.

The hardest part about this layout was coming up with a title. The photo is very special to me. It is of my first exchange student on his birthday. He came to visit us one year later!! He made a huge positive impact on our lives and we were so happy to see him on his actual birthday.

Somehow during his first 10 months with us, we did not get a single photo of the two of us. It doesn't help that I tend to always be behind the camera and shy away from the front of the lens.

Well, I got my one photo and love it!

I hope you find inspiration with today's reveal. Thanks for stopping by today.

Beautiful You: My Creative Scrapbook GDT

Hello there! This week I would like to share with you my projects that I made with My Creative Scrapbook's Main Kit for September. This is my second month being a guest designer and I loved being part of the team.

It is a beautiful kit, especially if you love anything pink and girly. If you have been following me for a while, you know I tend to scrap more "boy" and less frilly.

But here's a confession . . . some of my best work comes from being "forced" to think outside the box. This kit gave me an opportunity to scrap about my sister and myself. Her and I really don't scrap about ourselves nearly enough. Being moms, we want to scrap about our boys. But we are beautiful women now and that should not be said casually, and definitely said more often. Our sons will one day (hopefully) look back on our work and want to know who we are now. . . at this moment.

If you are a mom who usually only scraps about your kids, I encourage you to take the plunge and scrap about you. You are a woman. You are beautiful. Embrace it . . . for at least a couple pages.

I hope you are inspired. Thanks for stopping by today. Come by tomorrow for more inspiration with My Creative Scrapbook's main kit.
