Darling

Did I ever mention that I have a fabulous sister? Well . . . I do. Just saying.

Lots going on with this scrapbook page. Not only did I make the page and follow "Let's Get Sketchy" August Week 2 sketch, I'm also the photographer behind the actual photo of my sister. We had SO MUCH fun taking pictures that afternoon.

The second best part was making a feminine page. Most of you know I usually make "boy" layouts. I really do enjoy making paper flowers and reaching for bling for my pages. The trick is actually having girly papers in my stash to work with. Not to worry, I've been slowly building that up just for this occasion!

I'm also a huge fan of BoBunny. Thrilled to work with those papers again!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Flowers are handmade. Also tucked a little metal frame
behind the flowers.

Yep, I fussy cut those butterflies. Not something I usually do.

1st Day of School

Every couple months I rotate scrapbook pages that I have featured on a wall. The rotation is based on the "season". Well, in my house it's back-to-school season. Except, as I was switching out the pages I noticed that I had not scrapped about my son's 1st grade year yet. Oops!

So I went "hunting". First I needed the photo. Then I needed a sketch. . . which sent me to my Pinterest page. Since I have more free time these days, I have also been looking for challenges to enter my projects into. Yesterday I discovered an absolute gem of a scrapbook sketch site: Scrapbook Challenges: Sizzlin Summer '15- 01. Go check it out!

It was easy to reach for my favorite boy colors for this layout, as they are also the popular choices for back-to-school colors. The rest speaks for itself.

Thanks for stopping by today!

I layered a variety of stars here. I also enjoyed reaching for
my stitching template for the "x's".

Fun in the sun

Ok peeps . . . here is my final layout using My Creative Scrapbook's July kit. They have asked me to be a guest designer after winning last month's sketch challenge and I had fun working with their creative kit.

This layout comes with a bit of background. I have been following Ashley Horton for quite some time. Love nearly everything she makes. She has an Etsy shop, The Cut Shoppe, full of unique die cuts. Her cuts are meant to be large and page filling. This is my first time trying it out and I loved it!

The fun, colorful backdrop is actually a reverse die cut pattern. I'll definitely be incorporating more of this type of background into my layouts in the future.

I did not follow a sketch. It's more of an idea from having watched Ashley's layouts for quite some time.

Thanks for stopping by today!

I took a journaling tag, cut it down, and made all these individual
tags for this layout.

I love layers. The end. LOL

Hello there! Today I'm here with my second page featuring My Creative Scrapbook's July kit as their guest designer.

This one also follows their monthly sketch challenge that goes until August 14th. Check it out! I won last month's challenge and then they asked me to be a guest designer. So you never know. . . take the plunge!

I loosely followed this sketch from Pinterest.

...Handsome...

This is going to be a long post . . . sorry.  Not really!

I have more time these days to participate in challenges and am loving it. Challenges help push a creative person to do more than their comfortable with - at least for me. I can't really say that I was uncomfortable making this layout, but I do tend to shy away from large titles and multiple photos usually.

The photos taken are of my son and nephew during my sister's wedding. They knew they were handsome and cute! My son usually hides from the camera these days and I am always very happy when he cooperates . . . even loosely.

At first I thought I was going to go with "summer" colors for these photos, but that just didn't seem right. Then I came across Simple Stories "24/7" in my stash and just loved the color combination. I just "felt" like these photos really needed red to go with them. I LOVE how this turned out. Even my husband commented on it. My sister will be jealous of all the hearts cause that is her thing.

I am entering this into two different challenges.

Scrap our Stash Challenge: P-A-P-E-R
P - Pendant - Tim Holtz
A - "Arrow" sticker
P - Pop dot heart
E - Best Day "EVER" frame
R - "Really?" sticker

Sketchabilities #144 - obviously I followed their sketch.
