Studio Challenges: 5th Grade

Hello and welcome! Today is a new challenge at Studio Challenges - to include as many items as you can beginning with the letter 'S'.

My layout is school themed . . . with a few stars . . . and a smattering of circles . . . there is even a scalloped circle . . . . striped paper . . . and school supplies patterened paper.

Pretty easy, right?

The layout is made with Doodlebug and Bella Blvd mixed together. Bright, wonderful colors that I have used for all my son's first day of school layouts. Next year I think I will make a more grudge look as he will no longer be in elementary school.

The circle template is from Silhouette online store.

In real life, the tag under the photo has information. It has been
cleared out for privacy purposes.

The "I love school" is a rub-on from Maya Road purchased
eons ago.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

International Scrapbook Garden: Hero

Without further ado, this is my very first DT post with the brand new kit club, the International Scrapbook Garden.

If you have ever wanted to play with papers from Europe, Australia, etc . . . check it out!!!! I am on the 'Toolshed Kit' design team, which is more masculine oriented. There are three kits to currently choose from, the other two being much brighter and feminine.

I aslo specifically made this layout for the Scrap The Boys challenge - fathers. This layout is about my dad and his grandson (my nephew). They are two peas in a pod. The little guy LOVES his Grampy and will spend all his time with him when him and his mother come to visit. Grampy is rough around the edges, retired military, and has a brisk and direct way of speaking to people. My little nephew just loves it all. Grampy is most definitely his hero.

I have only dabbled in mixed media. This layout reflects a couple hours of
watching YouTube videos and playing with the supplies from the kit.

I used KaiserCraft charcoal mist on the the frame. Then went around
and sparringly added 13Arts Vivid Yellow acrylic paint.

This is a combination of spray mists, acrylic paint, stamping,
distressing and a die cut!!!

Supplies:

White Gesso
Background stamp from stash
Silhouette Cameo - title

Studio Challenges: Siblings

Today's challenge at Studio Challenges is "Inspired by a book cover". I'm not ashamed to say that I cheated just a little bit. First I made a layout I wanted, then went and looked for a book cover. 😂

I am a huge fan of "For Better or For Worse" . . . so I didn't really cheat . . . much. The comic strip is all about family . . . mothers, fathers, children . . . SIBLINGS!!

This layout is really a "do-over" layout for me. I really couldn't tell you why I didn't like the original, just that it didn't feel like "mine". It's rare for me to want to make a 'do-over', as I believe my layouts are all part of the creative process. I've just learned to accept that I am not going to be in love with all of them.

I practically insisted on making this one 'harder'. It would have come together so quickly otherwise, that I just didn't feel right about it. So I added hand-stitching to the title. Figures!! But I really did enjoy reaching for a smorg-a-board of random stuff and forcing it to work. That felt right, as the three of us may have come from the same parents, but we are very different individuals. Also, we are a rather chaotic and loud family, so I felt like the layout needed to reflect that a bit.

My sister and I are moderately hearing impaired, so yeah, we be loud! (P.S. Drives my husband bonkers).

Thanks for stopping by today!!!

We are the 'Simmons' kids. Obviously my sister and I have
married last names now. My brother is the oldest, then me
on the right and my sister on the left.

I machine-stitched the arrows, but hand-stitched the title.

Just random stuff from my stash!

The butterfly was part of a die-cut exchange.

PDE Linky Party: Autumn

Hello there!!

Janis has reinstated me to the PDE Linky design team. I was part of the
team about a year ago . . . some boring stuff later . . . and I'm back!!!

Without further ado, this week's challenge is AUTUMN!!

This awesome "bread basket" file can be found at Dreaming Tree.

It's all paper and rather too small for real bread, but it's a wonderful
decor item all the same.

I used AC cardstock cream and an old BoBunny PP line.

Thanks for stopping by today!!!
